OCTOBER BLOG POST
11th October 2013 | Al
It’s the right time to share some exciting news.
After a few false starts and broken promises, it finally feels like our debut album is coming together.
Since 2009 there have now been a few EPs and singles put out for your aural pleasure; which we’ve hugely enjoyed recording/releasing, and we hope (and if you’re still reading this then we guess you did) you enjoyed the tracks. With each release, we edged closer to capturing the essence of what the band means to us, learning as we go, and never forgetting the patience of our followers.
Like any labour of love, alongside passages of smooth progress the challenge of musical alchemy has seemed impassable, like a sheer granite cliff-face. We’ve tried different set-ups, different studios (Cream Rooms in Essex, Paul McCartney Auditorium in Liverpool, Bona Fide in East London – to name a few), different producers – but things hadn’t quite clicked. We have, however, perservered.
In the end it came down to where we are most comfortable causing a giant racket, and that appears to be in the Hertfordshire environs of London Road Studios, under the direction of a trio of young, bold, producers; Jak Melvin, Lawrence Ames, and Max Hopwood, who pounce on a weak take like a pack of wolves, and push us to produce our best.
As the songs themselves have matured over time, we’ve been able so far to put on tape the raw energy of our live show.
We now have a collection of songs that feel like they stretch in a number of directions whilst retaining a backbone – a body of work, or in other words, an album.
Wilkestock performance rounds off the summer
7th September 2013 | Stan
As we took to the stage at Wilkestock, the sun was setting below the treeline. A few sore heads from the night before, we gave it everything we could and played as loud as possible!
Many good friends were there to see the set, and one of our new songs got its first outdoor airing to a great response.
Cheers to Wilkestock for rounding off our summer, see you next year.
